Marnie Hall is a classically-trained electric violinist, string arranger and solo artist who has performed, taught and recorded in the Boston area since 1995. After growing up in the Boston freelance classical community, often traveling with her parents on the national tours of Broadway shows, Marnie went on to pursue classical violin studies at Indiana University, Bloomington and Suzuki Violin pedagogy at the University of Wisconsin and Hartt School of Music. After teaching at several small music schools in Boston, she then founded her own studio in Jamaica Plain, MA. While freelancing, Marnie traveled to Ireland, where she soon fell in love with playing non-classical music. She then branched out to start incorporating her own method of writing string parts for, and performing with, many rock bands. Marnie has played in the backing and touring orchestras for The Moody Blues, Brian Wilson, The Irish Tenors and Johnny Mathis. She has opened for Cyndi Lauper, Andy Grammer and Kelly Clarkson, and most recently, is accompanying new supergroup Howl Owl Howl, comprised of R.E.M’s Mike Mills, Hootie and the Blowfish frontman Darius Rucker, and the Black Crowe’s co-founder & former drummer, Steve Gorman.
